just a little travel journal

Sara and I have one more night in California. In the morning we leave for a four month long trip to Southeast Asia, flying into Bangkok, Thailand and hopefully traveling through Thailand, India, Nepal and any other country in the region that we can find our way to. The anxiety has been driving me to spend hours packing and repacking my backpack, fanatically digging through the overstuffed drawers and piles of boxes that my childhood belongings are buried below remnants of Santa Cruz and college. I've been dreaming of travel since most of my friends first left Santa Cruz for their own expeditions while I was left to work and finish my last few classes, a delay that lasted more than a year. It was a good year, how could I refuse the happiness of the Trailer Park hippy haven and the precious moments in another haven nestled deep in the Klamath mountains. What havens will I find beyond the comforts of my native tongue and a daily shower? I hope these coming four months are beyond words, beyond time, beyond expectations.
