Finally, I found a good internet cafe! The last few I tried were sooooo slow and expensive at the same time. I kept running out of time cards that you buy in advance. Sara and I are still on Kho Phangan but we left the beautiful wonderful peaceful bubble of Haad Tien and are making our way to a national park a little south of Krabi tomorrow. The park is supposed to have elephants and waterfalls and nice hiking and camping. We are hopefully going to meet up with this woman named Avina who is from Santa Cruz. Sara and I were like, "that woman looks so familiar!" and it turns out we'd recognized her from farmer's market in Santa Cruz. But she's on Santa Cruz time and might not get to the ferry. Already, she didn't come today so Sara and I are chillin in a little bungalow resort in Thomg Sala that is right on the beach. Our bungalow costs 100 bath which is about $2.20. It's crazy how cheap things are here and we are in the expensive part of the country. How will I order food in the US after paying a dollar a meal here? I miss Haad Tien though. We stayed in a cheaper bungalow next to the Santuary and our room had a beautiful billowing mosquito net and we awoke every morning to the sound of lizards chirping and coconut trees swaying. Sara and I hiked from Haad Tien to Haad Rin where the big Full Moon Party is and it was such a frat party and culture shock. We heard monkeys in the trees though and it made the 8 miles seem like nothing. I made so many friends in Haad Tien and was offered a bartending job but there was only one position and Sara and I didn't want to mud wrestle for it. A house is for sale there too, $15,000. Anyone want to go in on it? No, I should see the rest of Thailand first. Our bungalow has a restaraunt run by these three brothers that reminded me of the three stooges, they were always playing pranks on each other and on us. Mas put a flaming piece of paper into a coconut and threw it to Bodey this English guy who hit on us constantly and Mas was screwaming "Bomb! Bomb!' then he was running around laughing. kinda crazzzzyyyy.... And Juan was always saying "see you yesterday!" or "see you this morning" instead of "see you later". He got a kick out of it when I started saying the same things. Sara and I had an amazing night on the full moon. This island is famous for it's full moon parties but we stayed in Haad Tien where it is more mellow and danced under the coconut trees and in the sand before going into the scene of the party, techno beats blazing and plenty of Singhas (I'll drink one for you Dan (Frey)). I have been trying to take lots of pictures but some of the best views have been seen while hanging for dear life in the back of a taxi truck. Sara and I want to have an exibit of our work but so far, I have been pretty slow to pull out my camera. There's time though. Four months seems short when we hear of all the stuff to do. Each place is a little vortex of attraction and comfort. I love reading your emails, things seem good back there.
